About Marybow Property
We are an independent estate agency based in Bow, East London. We offer a personal service bringing peace of mind and a caring ethos to property owners and tenants.
We are members of ARLA Propertymark, which means we meet higher industry standards than the law demands. We undertake regular training to ensure we are up to date with best practice and complex legislative changes to offer you the best advice. We are backed by a Client Money Protection scheme which guarantees your money is protected.
- Agents should be transparent and open about fees and the process.
- Agents should find suitable tenants, not just anyone who will pay the rent.
- Property management should never be an afterthought.
Lia – Founder & Managing Director
My business was launched because of a painful personal experience. When I was a tenant, I was taken to court by a rogue agent and landlord, two years after leaving the property concerned. It was alleged I had caused excessive damage resulting in loss of rent. Knowing this to be completely untrue, I foolishly represented myself in court, believing my innocence would quickly see me winning the case. I couldn’t have been more wrong. It took 18 months to prove my case, during which time I suffered great mental and physical stress.
This experience proved to be a pivotal moment for me. I was compelled to discover whether other tenants live in fear of their landlord or agent, and if there are landlords who are being deliberately misled by unscrupulous agents. The agency world is archaic as the energy industry that I’ve come from, and crying out for better customer service and transparency.
I became an entrepreneur because of the gap in the private rental sector to provide an ethical service, operated by a young, ethnic minority female.
I wanted to do something tangible for my community in East London, so in October 2014, I took the plunge and launched my independent business, Marybow Property.
